Hey gang. Time for a heads up!
I’ll be working on the Brooches/Fridge magnets until January 26th. After that, whatever is posted to eBay (theboygeorgedoll) will remain there until sold, but I won’t be adding more or taking orders until well after the doll’s are released. And that’s *if* I do more Brooches at all.

Not doll related, but still in the realm of George fandom. I’ve just come across these hand stitched Boy George logo sparkle vinyl purses (and one eyewear case) while searching through boxes for other supplies. They were put aside a few years ago and clearly out of sight was out of mind. Anyhoo, these are the last of them with only one of each colourway and I’ve chucked them up on eBay, so if you want one, get in quick!

Waking up with the Country on fire…
It’s a heavy hearted irony that as I’ve been working on the latest sculpts – including a brooch sized homage to Culture Club’s #3 album – the thing that was on my mind was that my ‘house’ in the broad sense, my homeland Australia, is on fire.
And while we are relatively safe in our suburban cocoon (thanks to those overseas who were concerned and checked in on our situation), the devastation so many of my fellow Aussies are still facing breaks my heart.
I’ve been trying to figure out how to help. Money’s stupidly tight here, so it’s hard to imagine any tiny amount I could give would actually help much. And unlike the previous Black Saturday bushfires where we had a strong link to one of the affected communities and gave hands on assistance at one of the evacuation centres, this time we have no direct association with the affected areas, and I don’t know that they’d need more strangers among them at this vulnerable time – however good our intentions may be.
So what do we do? What can *I* do?
Then it hit me that the very thing I was working on might be away to help.
This is what I’m proposing: The latest brooch design will be the same price of $25 as the ‘80’s’ and ‘Modern’ George one’s, but until the end of January, $5 from each of the ‘Waking Up With The House On Fire’ brooches sold will be donated to CFA Victoria, and if over $100 is raised, I’ll split the total between the CFA and The Red Cross. Both organisations are always on hand whenever there’s a crisis in this state.

The last eBay payment has finally cleared, so I made the donation to Beyond Blue this morning. $120.01. I would have loved it to be more, but hopefully that still helps someone find help when they need it. Big thanks for that gang! 😘

2019 Calendar review
Taken a bit to narrow it down, but I think these are my favourites of each month last year.
Some because of the challenge in creating, some where the results exceeded my expectations, some for the sheer joy they brought, and some because of the potential they hold.
Thanks to all of you for sharing the last year of Doll shenanigans, and here’s to a massive 2020!
2019
Well, I can’t say 2019 will go down in the annals of my life as a favourite, but the positive I can take from it is the wealth of creative booty I was able to plunder while on the pirate ship misery.
Sailing this silly little doll project ship has tested my limits, and stretched a few to levels I didn’t think I’d ever achieve, plotted a course when there seemed no way forward, and yielded creative bounty’s I could never have imagined even twelve months ago.
I look forward to sharing some of those bounty’s that have been held in reserve very soon, and then I hope to go on and see where else the many newly acquired skills can take this old doll.
Thanks to those of you who’ve been along for this crazy voyage – and extra thanks to those who helped bail water when the ship was sinking. So much love to you x

Xmas in the Dollhouse…

So there’s been a bunch of you wanting various Xmas Boybles etc. The cut-off is well and truly passed, and I do desperately need a break, but as I’m still unsure if I’ll do these again in 2020, I’m offering the very last chance in 2019 for you to nab some of these trinkets for your Xmas collections.
Prices have been adjusted to better reflect the love, time & materials that go into these dears. If you got in early, well done you, if not, sorry, but I’m learning to value my time.
The set of four 8cm Boybles is $55 for either the 80’s George or Modern George sets. No other options at this stage.
The brooches will be $20 ea.
The set of six Santa hat ornaments is $40.
The Santa suits for the dolls, comprising the hat, coat and pants is $35. (Shoes & Doll not included)
